East Leake Parish Council has agreed to a trial run of a local bus service to be provided by the Council in conjunction with East Leake Community Care Association This uses the 16-seat Soar Valley Bus on Wednesdays. This service started on Wed 1st October and will run every Wednesday for a trial period. The route is from the outlying parts of East Leake to the Health Centre and the Co-op. The fare is 50p return (or single). Treasurer: Mr Bob Bayley

This Association has been active in the village for over 25 years and during that time we have supported many people in various ways. A current list of our activities follows. Our focus has changed to some extent as the village has grown in size and the average age of the population has become older and we must continue to adapt to changing needs. We are always open to suggestions. Don’t hesitate to contact us.

The “Village Round-Up” has been published by the East Leake Community Care Association at regular intervals since 1979 and it is distributed to all households. If you are new to East Leake and do not have a copy, they can be obtained at the Parish office or the Library. We owe our thanks to the East Leake Parish Council and others for their financial support for this.

All our activities involve a large number of volunteers and we are grateful to them for their time and commitment. We are also grateful for those who have given us donations to enable us to carry on with our work; these include village organisations, Nottinghamshire County Council and individuals.

Recruiting new volunteers is essential if we are to continue with our activities and we specially need more drivers for the Transport Scheme. We offer a generous mileage allowance (not taxable) to those drivers and the service they provide is much appreciated by the users. DO YOU WANT TO BE A VOLUNTEER?
