EAST LEAKE COMMUNITY INTERNET GROUP (known as ELCID) was set up in 1999, when home ownership of computers was not all that common, even in an affluent area like East Leake. It had twin objectives, (a) providing public access to Internet and PC services, plus a certain amount of training and (b) creating and maintaining a village website.
Now that practically everyone who wants a personal computer has one and knows how to use it, half our original remit has become redundant, so a radical overhaul was called for, and a new constitution was drawn up (see below).

THE VILLAGE WEBSITE has prospered and enjoys monthly "hits" averaging well over 1800. It has links to a great variety of outside agencies, but its main characteristic is that all village organisations are entitled to have their own page(s) and are in control of how they promote themselves. The only rule is that content must be legal, truthful and decent! There's room for plenty more, so if your organisation would like to join in, just press the "Contact us" button on the left, let us know who you are and nominate one of your members to be your page editor. The training required is simple and will be arranged as and when it suits you.

PICTURES OF EAST LEAKE
We like to show a variety of interesting views of the village on the Home Page.
With help from you, we could have a different picture every week. If you have taken any digital shots you would let us use, please send them in "....jpg" form to elcid@eastleake.net. We'll acknowledge your ownership, of course (and we'll reduce the resolution somewhat so that they won't print too well from the screen in case anyone is intent on pinching them).
