This is a social car scheme, helping people of any age who have mobility difficulties and who are unable to enlist the help of relatives or friends. Nottinghamshire County Council gives us a grant which helps us to meet the cost of the scheme and we do have to work to their criteria. Following changes in the criteria all users will have to register with us and forms will be available from Doris Elcock. Some journeys involve hospital appointments and visiting, others are to opticians, doctors or dental appointments and occasional transport to Day Centres and Clubs. Shopping trips can also be arranged when transport is available. We are unable to undertake any more regular weekly trips. If you have difficulty in reaching your destination within approximately 20 miles of East Leake, do approach us and we will try to help. If we have available drivers, we can offer any passenger a maximum of two journeys a week. HOW TO BOOK A CAR: 2. Contact your nearest Area Organiser, listed below, and give details of your name, address, telephone number, scheme registration number and journey request. If you are not registered with the scheme a registration form will need to be completed. Arrangements will not be made for transport until a registration form has been allocated to you. If you have problems contacting your nearest Area Organiser, then try another name on the list. Once arrangements have been made you will be contacted with the name of your driver. 3. After your journey, pass your payment to the Area Organiser who booked the transport for you. The Area Organiser will give you details of charges and arrange how the payment should be passed on. If you have a bus pass the journey charge is halved, unless your journey is for a hospital appointment (this is because we do not receive a grant for hospital appointments), Please note: All administrators of the scheme and the drivers are volunteers. We will do our best to meet your needs but on occasions this may not be possible, mainly due to a shortage of available drivers. AREA ORGANISERS |
